Ramea, Newfoundland

In 2004, Ramea was chosen as the site of Canada’s first wind-diesel demonstration project. Frontier designed the project and installed the six 65 kW turbines that are still in operation today. These turbines have been operational for over 16 years in the harsh Atlantic climate, highlighting their durability and efficiency.

These six turbines generate around 500,000 kWh per year of electricity (approximately 15% of Ramea’s power requirements) and offset around 375 tonnes of emissions annually.
